Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath: Another account of ‘NRO to Imran’ surfaces

A senior columnist has endorsed Ansar Abbasi’s story about former chief justice Saqib Nisar giving an NRO to PTI Chairman Imran Khan as desired by Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Geo News anchor Shahzeb Khanzada stated this in his show 'Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath'. Shahzeb said journalist Javed Chaudhry, after a six-hour meeting with General Bajwa, wrote two columns on December 27 and 29 that confirmed the reports about Ansar Abbasi. According to Javed Chaudhry, Bajwa gave the NRO twice. The first was for Imran Khan in 2017, while the second was for Asif Zardari in 2021.

In his analysis, Shahzeb Khanzada said that Imran is pushing his narrative that the supreme court declared him as Sadiq and Amin, but now it has come to light that this certificate was allegedly given to him illegally. The anchor said that all this was a result of the use of authority and political engineering, adding that according to the column, the institution provided Saqib Nisar to write the decision.

Shahzeb said this is a big political engineering scandal involving Gen Bajwa, former ISI DG General Faiz Hamid and former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar. The way the establishment dealt with the then Chief Justice in granting NRO to Imran Khan in 2017 and how Imran tried to break PDM by giving relief to Asif Zardari is exposed.

Journalist Ansar Abbasi in his news article published on 27 December gave the reason why PPP left PDM in 2021. Citing sources, Ansar Abbasi claimed that the establishment advised Imran Khan to give relief to Asif Zardai to weaken the PDM.

In another news story, Ansar Abbasi, quoting Prime Minister Malik Ahmad Khan and sources close to Gen Bajwa, claimed that the then establishment helped Imran Khan get the Sadiq and Amin certificate from the Supreme Court through the then Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.
